Sweet Treat Retreat Schedule
Sandy is a teacher by profession and a quilter by passion. She has a graduate degree in education and has taught and lectured in the Seattle area since 1993 and nationally since 1997. Sweet Treats is her eighth book. She has appeared on Lap Quilting with Georgia Bonesteel, Simply Quilts with Alex Anderson, and was one of six featured artists on “Quilts of the Northwest” in 1998.
In 2003, she was nominated for teacher of the year. Sandy also coordinates Quilts for the Children, a group that has made almost 3,000 quilts for the children of battered women. She mentors high school students doing their senior projects in quiltmaking. She is also a professional quilt appraiser. Sandy lives on a small farm on Cougar Mountain in Washington with her family and many animals. She also raises puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Sandy created the Huckleberry Pie quilt pattern specifically for Meandering Moose Quilt Retreats. This pattern will be featured in her upcoming book. Go to Sandy's web site for more information.
Sandy's Books
Sandy has written several books showing us her vast array of techniques. The first was Folk Art Quilts: A Fresh Look with 18 original folk art quilts to teach you everything you need to know about folk art.
Sandy then produced two books teaching the techniques to make photo transfer quilts and created a photo transfer paper. The books are Quilting Your Memories: Inspirations for Designing With Image Transfers and Quilting More Memories: Creating Projects with Image Transfers.
To celebrate the American Spirit, Sandy wrote Americana Quilts teaching how to choose fabrics for a folk art-inspired palette and giving tips for achieving a distinctive primitive look. Tried and True: New Quilts from Favorite Blocks gives new life to classic blocks such as Churn Dash, Flying Geese and Bear’s Paw, and shows unexpected ways to arrange traditional blocks for a whole new look.
